WELCOMING OUR NEWEST DLE INTERN: LUCY KRAVITZ

      October 12, 2022

By Lucy Kravitz, DLE Communications Intern, Junior at Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY

The DLE’s internship opportunity immediately caught my eye when I received an email about it from my career advisor. On a whim I decided to apply. My good character and experience opened the door to an interview and ultimately landed me my new role in the DLE community.

My name is Lucy Kravitz and I am thrilled to start as a communications intern with the DLE team. I am currently a junior at Syracuse University, studying Marketing and Supply Chain Management in the Martin J. Whitman School of Management.

My marketing classes target my creative and research side, while my supply chain classes target the logistics and management side. You might not think so, but these two majors go hand and hand. It is necessary for supply chain managers to know their target audience and market demand, while marketers need to understand how vital it is to forecast and track costs of products and services.

At Syracuse University, I ensure my schedule is filled up when I am not attending classes. I am in an acapella group called the Oy Capellas, and also serve as the group’s business manager. I collect dues from members and manage the financial account to ensure we have enough funds for our events/performances. I have made so many wonderful friends in the group, while combining my love for singing and business into one.

I am also involved in Hillel’s Challah for Hunger, an organization that raises awareness and funds to combat hunger. I serve as treasurer and help manage the bake sales we conduct during the school year.

I grew up in New Rochelle, NY, and I am forever grateful for the community I was part of. New Rochelle is a diverse town, filled with people of all different backgrounds and cultures. Growing up there taught me to be accepting of everyone and to accept ideas and experiences from people I would not expect to. From a marketing standpoint, diversity is an important aspect, and I am ready to bring what I have learned growing up to the DLE team.

I have already started this position in full force. I have met so many wonderful people and have loved connecting with them. I am super thankful for this opportunity, and I look forward to both contributing to the team and learning from this experience.
