Delivering on our commitment to give back to the Berkshire community that serves as the DLE’s home base, two in-person, volunteer outreach opportunities are planned for spring. Register now to make a difference while making new connections.
Saturday, April 30: The DLE reconnects with leaders from Construct Inc. for a clean-up project that will benefit the organization’s mission of leading the fight against homelessness and housing insecurity in South Berkshire County. Volunteers will meet at 8:45 am in Downtown Pittsfield to carpool to the Great Barrington project site, where an old garage needs to be cleared and cleaned. This is the DLE’s second volunteer project with Construct in five months.
Dress for getting dirty, advises Laura Jordahl of Construct’s Volunteer Committee. “Items that need to be removed have been there a while, and they are dusty and musty.” Work gloves and solid footwear should be worn. Masks will be available for anyone with dust sensitivities. The project should last a few hours. Join the DLE volunteer crew, receive a limited edition DLE hat, and shed some stress by heaving debris into a dumpster.

Friday, May 13: The DLE is fielding a volunteer crew to spruce up the downtown business district of Pittsfield (MA), where the DLE headquarters is located. Beginning at 1:00 pm, DLE community members will sweep streets and pick up trash in the annual Downtown Pittsfield Cleanup. This is the third consecutive year that the DLE has participated.
Volunteer for an hour or more, based on your schedule, and receive a limited-edition DLE shirt. The event wraps up around 3:30 pm. The DLE crew will join more than a dozen groups from Berkshire-based businesses and organizations in this celebrated spring tradition. Read more about Downtown Pittsfield Inc. here.
